Review Notes: It had been a while since I tried one and was leery because one I had was terrible and the next was decent, so this was the tie-breaker. I;m happy to say that it was a good and bold cigar with nice construction. The aroma was a bit much for other folks, but for the smoker it is fine. Leathery flavor.

Review Notes: There seems to be a push lately to unload Bolivar cigars in general. I usually get the impression that it is a simple marketing ploy to reach various target audiences, but in this case I think there is something more. It almost seems as if there is something the growers and retailers know that we do not. I think that they know these Bolivar are not up to snuff compared to past product. It is a liquidation. The Bolivar name carries enough weight to sell out, even with a substandard product. Perhaps it was a bad year for tobacco or just a bad job of mass humidification, who knows. All I know is that this Bolivar was a far cry from others I have had in the past. There was nothing smooth about the taste of this cigar. It was almost metallic in flavor. This lasted throughout the three that I have smoked over the last month. I would avoid the DR smokes for a year or two and maybe come back once the surplus has been eliminated. You will pay more, but you will get more satisfaction too.
