Review Notes: I was too cheap to spring for Esplendidos, so I looked for other Cubans to try. I like double coronas, so I got a nice assortment. The RyJ and the Hoyo de Monterrey stood out, but between the two, the RyJ was the more flavorful. This is like three cigars in one. The taste changes constantly. It's sort of like an RyJ Churchill with added layers of chocolate and cedar. Unlike most cigars, even the first half inch is wonderful. Starts smooth and sweet and spicy, then the added flavors kick in, and then a strong finish. Looks maduro-ish, but there is only a little sweetness. I nub these babies so bad, I nearly burn myself. One problem: if it's too wet, it may get bitter early. And it's not quite as balanced as the HdM. I bought a whole box. If they get scarce, I may buy five more and hoard them. I thought they blew away the Montecristo, Partagas, and Punch DC's.
