Review Notes: This is the gold standard against which all other short smokes should be compared. Deceivingly benign-appearing in stature. Silky brown wrapper with minimal veins. Sold construction with no soft spots. Rich prelight aroma. Easy light. Slightly firm draw (stored at 65/65 for 3 months). Slightly flakey salt-and-pepper ash. Started with spice and earth - typical Partagas flavor profile. These mellowed in the first 1/3 and were joined by a woody note, particularly oak, by the halfway point. The flavors then intensified and were joined by grassy and herbaceous notes in the last third. All in all, this was a medium-to-full bodied 50 minute complex smoke that is loaded with flavor. I didn't find this to be a headspinner at all - it was extraordinarily enjoyable from first draw to the nub (and I do mean the nub!!). Like anything memorable, I didn't want it to end. The only thing it left me wanting for was another one.....
