Review Notes:
The Tamboril come in several varieties. This is the Sumatra, with the red band. I also have some white band, which are Connecticut wrapper, and black label, which are maduro. I mention this, because they all taste very different. The bands are pretty cool looking. They have a little section cutout in the shape of a tobacco leaf. The rather dark Sumatra wrapper has a reddish tint, with a few thin veins. The construction could be a bit better, and thus led to a very uneven burn. But the ash held, and I never had to relight. The draw was fine. The rather mild body has a pretty good texture. Not the creamiest or silkiest, but not bad, and no dryness or harshness. Nice and tasty. It has a classic Sumatra flavor of cedar wood, with slight hints of bread, spice, and nuts. I mention to shop around, because I Googled and "window shopped," and prices vary significantly. I see robustos at $35 on one site, and almost $90 on another site. A box or bundle at around $35 would be a very good value. I paid around $30 several years ago at a nice sale, and will settle on a value rating of 8. If you stumble across some singles on your next trip to your local shop, and they are priced at about $3 or less, give one a try.
