Review Notes: This La Rosa really surprised me. A delicious and smooth treat, dug out of a sampler box of twenty in assorted sizes ... 10 natural and 10 maduro. As I recall, the sampler box was quite a bargain at $30. The wrapper may not be quite as smooth and pretty as that of the Padron 1964, but at about 90% less of a price tag, the taste is there. Well rolled into a square box press. Nice and even burn. Excellent draw. A complex mix of classic "Nicaraguan flavors." Plenty of coffee and chocolate, with traits of nuts and toasty bread. The texture of the medium body smoke is leathery and velvet smooth, leading to a slightly milder smoke than the Padron. I adore Padron, they are among my favorites. However, I believe it is very fair to state that, in my humble opinion, at $1.50 a stick, compared to 1964 Padron at $15 each, these La Rosas will do just fine for those on a modest budget.
