Review Notes: Every cigar manufacturer seems to be trying to make a spicy full body smoke, but so many are falling flat. H. Upmann jumped on the bandwagon with the 2000 series. Presentation was beautiful with a gilded blood red ring, and a cedar wrap which complemented the ruddy color of the wrapper leaf. I selected a robusto vitola, and lit up. H. Upmann generally makes well rolled cigars, and since this line is in direct competition with the likes of CAO eXtreme, Cohiba XV, and Ashton VSG, I figured the 2000 series would be rolled by the masters. Unfortunately it seems H. Upmann is treating the full body revolution with lip service only. This stick was spicy, but lacked flavor, and burn and draw were disappointingly inconsistent. As the stick burned down, it started turning bitter at the half way point, and no amount of purging would straighten it out. I finished the smoke with nearly 2 inches left due to the harsh aftertaste, and irritating tunneling. H. Upmann should drop this line and go back to what they do best, mild to mid body smokes.
