Review Notes: Sometimes these are wonderful. Sometimes these are not. This cigar had about a year of aging on it. Flavor was inconsistent. Mostly tasted like a delicious snickers bar other times it had moments of gasoline? If you want to try them DO NOT PAY FULL RETAIL PRICES for these. Tread catiously with these but I feel they have some value in the $4-5 range. When they are good they are really good. PP was 5.50. Construction was poor on this stick as it had an air hole 3/4 inch below the cap. Burn was fine. Draw was slightly hampered by the hole. Nice looks (who cares). I came away from this remembering the snickers bar.

Review Notes: Like Ashman states, I too find almost anything Gurkha makes to be inconsistent. Do not pay full MSRP for anything Gurkha makes. If you want to try anything "Gurkha" you should be able to score it at C-bid for 1/3 to 1/2 price. I got these Gurka Legends for $5.50/stick. That written, I must mention that last night's well aged (at least 10 months), rustic looking cigar was one of the best tasting cigars I have had in a few years. (I'll probably have another in a week and it will be average tasting) The flavors were simply outstanding. There were rich, smooth flavors of mocha, leather, milk chocolate, and spice all within a slightly sweet tobacco base. Body ranged from mild to the full end of medium. Aftertaste made me not want to brush my teeth before bed. Burn was a tad uneven, draw was a bit tight at times but opened up fine with some minor massaging. For $5-6 I don't mind playing "Gurkha-roulette" with the Legends Series. Realize the inconsistencies with Gurkha, pay accordingly, and in the end you may be happy with these.

"AWESOME yet middling."

Review Notes: Perfecto size. Not Torpedo. (I think Gurkha calls it the Anniverserio?) Sexy looking stick. The flavors in these at times is AWESOME. Body can be mild to fringe of full. There are also times when you wonder if someone switched cigars on you. Note that the flavor (slightly sweet tobacco base with a lot of other flavors happening ranging from nutmeg to coffee, to dark chocolate, to earth to leather) is always above average but there are times when these will literally blow you away. There are also times when it becomes tasteless for a while. As the Who would sing..."I Can't Explain". This happened (again)when I grabbed a well seasoned stick (6-7 mos. box time) my last time out with this. Even though Gurkha says these are aged 8 years I remember smoking one right away and it tasted young. Make sure you lay these down a while. Wouldn't you do that anyway with a stick that MSRP's at $10-15 anyway? Burn has been mostly razor sharp. Draw can be tight but it usuallly ends up producing gobs of smoke with some massaging. Tread catiously, but I have to recommend these for the awesome half of flavor you'll get with these. I usually score these on c-bid for about $5.50/stick. The value rating will be inflated because of that.

"Great flavor. Poor construction."

Review Notes: Nice prelight aroma. Sort of ugly, veiny, shiny, loose rolled wrapper. Would not light properly at first. Slight plug just below where I clipped so I clipped again. Once she got going the flavor was great but this thing burned so unevenly that it turned out to be a major pain in the "bullocks". Major "welds" from the Colibriu every 10 minutes probably added another buck to the cost of this in butane. Flavor was fine. Finish was fine. Gobs of smoke for about an hour and 40 minutes. Hearty, robust, med to full earthy slight sweet flavor almost made up for construction. (made a boo-boo 2 reviews back on this page...that review should have been for the Gurkha Legend Pyramid.)

"First Third Awesome."

Review Notes: K. Hansotia's entry into the trendy "aged premier boutique full flavored cigar"...The Gurka Legend... may eventually turn out to be fantastic. I had mixed results on this attractive MSR priced $16.00 stick. (I paid $8 on c-bid) The 1st third of this stick was one of the best tasting, best smoking non cuban cigars I have ever had. The gobs of creamy smoke experience was full of medium to full flavored lucious tones of wood, nuts, spice, and raisin. The last two thirds had an uneven burn and tasted like dull soapy wood. Overall the stick burned slowly lasting an hour and 40 minutes. The finish was dull and disappointing for $8. Imagine if I had paid 15.00. Maybe 8 years of aging just isn't enough or I got a bad stick. I have 4 left and will marinate accordingly. I will be back in a month or two with another review. Since two thirds of this smoke was soapy I will weigh accordingly when reviewing.
