Review Notes:
My initial impression was "Wow, did they sneak a leaf from a PSD4 into the filler somehow?" It had a similar spice and twang, with leathery, cedary earthiness in the base flavor. Not the usual Nic spice that just burns the nostrils and numbs the tongue, but a nice smooth spice, balanced by the tastes I mentioned. But then, after the first 1", it lost it. All I could taste was the wrapper leaf, which I think was grown from Connecticut seed. (BTW, I don't care for Connecticut shade leaf, so take that with a grain of salt.) It reminded me of a D.R. Monte White, which isn't a bad thing at all, but I was expecting so much more after the first few puffs. (I should have guessed, since I reviewed the 46 and had a similar experience.) It was just mostly woodsy and ever so slightly spicy and sweet. Very creamy and smooth, however. A little leather kicked in in the final bit. The aroma was nice, but nothing spectacular. Again, woodsy with just a hint of sweetness. I enjoyed it once I realized it wasn't going to be what I had expected. Also, the build was perfect, with an even draw and a flawless burn on this one. I love the pigtail triple- cap. The strength was a very mild medium, but got kinda strong in the last 1.5". I would recommend it, but with warning to anyone who smokes ISOMs. (Just to avoid disappointment.) Not what I expected from Tattoo Pete and DPG, but not unenjoyable. It is what it is, and it's good at that.
