Review Notes: No. 6 in Cigar Aficionado's top 25 cigars of 2004. A few months back I chanced upon a store that had some of last year's batch and selling them for less than $8 a stick so I bought a handful. It's a huge perfecto that's well-rolled with a shiny brown wrapper. The burn starts off a bit unevenly, which I find common in perfectos, but eventually straightens out. The draw is excellent and produces plenty of smoke with a nice aroma. Starts off peppery, but once it warms up the spiciness relaxes as some woody, nutty, and light earth flavors appear; becomes creamier later on with a lightly tangy orange peel taste. The flavors are soft and round and as a whole fairly complex. The finish is long and pleasant. It's a smooth and mellow smoke; not very strong, but still flavorful. This year's batch of this line should be out now and if it's anything like last year's, it'll be a fine cigar.
