Review Notes: If you're looking for the power of a Pepin Blue Label, yes, you'll be let down. But if you've developed a taste for ERDLH's tamer blends such as the Serie JJ, Nacionales W, and Vegas Cubanas, you'll find the Legends Yellow to be an incredible bargain. I fall emphatically into the latter camp. Having burned through roughly a box of these, the consistency is excellent. The most egregious construction flaw I've run across is a wobbly burn line, but none have affected the flavor. Give this one about an inch to warm up, and you're good to go. The dominant nutty character of this smoke is of the peanut/cashew variety, as opposed to the walnut that is prominent in the Blue and Black Labels. The finish is long and smacks of brown butter. Is it as good as the other Pepin brands named above? Not quite, but very close. And when you consider the value quotient (Legends is half the price of a VC or Nacionales, and roughly one-third of a JJ), this becomes a no-brainer.

Review Notes: Far and away the best Legends entry to date. I think of this as a chunkier Padilla Achilles. To my eye, the wrapper looks ever-so-slightly green, but that's about the only criticism I can muster. It takes a little while to open up, but shares the Achilles flavor profile with a fuller draw thanks to its 54 ring gauge. By halfway, it's chewy, nutty and rich while never getting up in your grill, making it a good companion to morning coffee. Everything about the Yellow Label is first rate -- look, consistency of build, flavor and value. If I were to have an everyday smoke, this would probably be it.
