Review Notes: I suspected age would help these, and so far I'm not disappointed. It's not there yet, but some of the bitter bite of youth has already gone. Sloppy cap was an aesthetic drawback, but the burn and draw were exemplary. This thing is strong! I've always thought of LGCs as medium bodied, but this one approached El Rico power. By halfway, it's full-on strong. More coffee (on the first half) and pepper than I noticed last time. Wow. I bought these as an inexpensive, everyday maduro, but I'm now thinking these will be special if I put them up for a year or two. Exceeding expectations. Who knew?

Review Notes: I've always thought the DR-made LGCs were pretty ho-hum. But since folks swear that the ones produced at El Credito Miami are notably better, I picked up at box today while in Little Havana. (Also saw the arson ravaged shell of the LTC factory a few blocks down Calle Ocho... a crying shame.) Since I haven't had a DR Wavell Maduro in a couple of years, I can't settle the Miami vs. DR debate. But I can say this is a good smoke. It looks spectacular. And lots of flavor at first blush -- clove, pepper, earth, anise. But those notes are of the hit-and-run variety, rather than melding together to give it a consistent character. Age may address that issue, of course. The finish isn't as long as I would like, and it turns charry on the last third. Despite those gripes, I think there's an excellent smoke in here that needs some time to come out.
