Review Notes: Because these can be so erratic, I had given up on them. But with a handful left from a three year-old box, I decided to try one tonight because I was crunched for time. The build was good for a change, and the flavors were outstanding. A dark profile of coffee, nuts and chocolate. The chocolate becomes more prominent in the second half. A long finish that coats the palate. This would be a special smoke if not for the poor roll.

Review Notes: Some too tight, others too loose. Some burn like lit fuses, others barely burn at all. Most tunnel. You get the point. The construction issues here are all over the lot. Ordinarily, I'd just write these off as a train wreck, but the flavors can be outstanding. Therein lies the frustration. On the rare occasion when these are right, the leather, dark coffee and rich nuttiness are a pleasure. But when you get one that burns even slightly hot, it turns brutally harsh, bitter and metallic. When I reach into the humi to grab one of these, I know my chances aren't good. The La Aroma is a real shame. Don't bother.
