Review Notes: Bolivar Corona Gigantes - 4/98 This was the first Bolivar that I have ever smoked. This is a handsome cigar with a nicely finished cap and a smooth tan wrapper void of veins, blemishes, or soft spots. Firm to the touch. The draw was on the tight side at the outset, but became quite good about half way through. The light was easy and the burn was a little crooked until a third of the way down. I was fortunate to smoke one with about 32 months of age on it. Like a Lusinatia I recently smoked, this cigar is not about power. The taste is what I think this cigar is all about. This Bolivar was a little tight for the first third, and the taste didn't really come through that much. The last two thirds of the smoke was a different story. This Bolivar has a rich full taste and smokes smooth, smooth, smooth. There's a mouth filling, light aromatic wood taste with a little spice. There are other tastes too, but I cannot describe them. This is one of the best cigars I have ever smoked. The taste is refined. Some cigars today like to "blow you away" with a big, spicy maduro. Big taste, but rough and simple compared to this aged Cuban. Would I smoke another. You bet, but I'm not sure I can afford a humidor full of these puppies.
