5 vegas limitada 2006ratings and scores

I scored one of these limited addition smokes at the CIGARfest. Yeah, I know I keep mentioning that...but it was just so cool to go Laughing

A quick history: this is a limited run (only about 50,000 ) each year and they come in a "one size fits all" 6.25" x 52 belicoso. They say each year the blend will be different. 2005 Limitada has a pedigree of: a 6-country blend includes Cuban-seed, Nicaraguan, Peruvian, Corojo long-leaf fillers; a Brazilian binder AND a 5-year-old Ecuadorian Sun Grown wrapper. It's made in the La Aurora factory in the Dominican Republic, the oldest factory in that country and one of the most respected in the world. I haven't found any reviews of the 2006 model.

Well, I enjoyed one of these after lunch today. As good as the reviews were for the 2005, I was left thinking the 2006 could have been better. The first thing I noticed was the the soft feel. It wasn't as tight as I have experienced with other cigars. It lit easily and tasted great. The wrapper was a nice brown with no imperfections noted. Toward the end of the smoke, part of the wrapper peeled away from the body but that was probably because of my clumsy hands.

The first 5-8 puffs were mild to medium with a hint of a nutty aftertaste. Toward the middle the smoke developed into thick full puffs and the taste became more intense and flavorful- but no overpowering.

The draw was easy, almost too easy as I thought that was related to the lack of firmness I had expected. I felt I had to keep puffing for fear it would go out (could be me, though). It makes your mouth tingle a little and the aftertaste is good.

Overall, it was a good smoke, but I'd think twice before having another.
