acid1 The ACID Five Torpedo and the Gurkha Empire Series IV are on the menu for today’s reviews. Both are medium-bodied and supposedly offer a smooth smoking experience. Do they have what it takes to make your to-smoke list? Keep reading to find out.

ACID Five Torpedo

The ACID line is a quirky creation from the folks at Drew Estate. The ACID Five is a limited edition line that was released to celebrate ACID’s fifth anniversary, hence the name. The cigar was also aged five years, giving the name an even more relevant meaning. Drew Estate has impressed me in the past, so my first venture into ACID territory is being done with some lofty expectations.

The ACID Five Torpedo measures 6 x 54. The line is also offered in a 5 x 54 Robusto size. The cigar’s interior consists of select black Nicaraguan tobaccos. Its exterior is marked by a Connecticut Shade wrapper. Similar to other ACID offerings, Drew Estate implements an infusion process with certain oils during production to add smoothness and complexity to the cigars. The ACID Five’s strength is said to be medium-bodied.

Having smoked Drew Estate cigars in the past, I’m not surprised by the presentation of the ACID Five Torpedo. It’s a beautiful stick that’s accentuated by two bands. The top band is large and displays the ACID logo in silver and black. The smaller band at the foot is black and has no writing or graphics. The Five is presented in a cedar sheath that covers over half of its body. The cigar itself is golden brown, oily, and very smooth. There are only a few minimal veins that are noticeable. It feels firm to the touch and I detect zero soft spots. The pre-light aroma is of earth, while the cold taste is of mild pepper.

The ACID Five Torpedo lights with ease and produces a decent amount of smoke. The draw is perfect. The ash is light gray in color and solid in form. There are only a couple touch-ups that are necessary. We are good to go in this department.
