While the burn of the American Sun Grown Robusto is great, its overall flavor is even better. The cigar kicks off with a burst of pepper that awakens the senses. This peppery burst is countered with some sweetness and chocolate in the first third. The second third continues with the cigar’s spicy tone and also offers up more sweetness and nuts. The final third is a pleasant mix of chocolate and cedar. This cigar does have that spiciness too it and falls into the full-bodied range, but it was not overwhelming in that sense to where it got uncomfortable at any point.
The Alec Bradley American Sun Grown Robusto is another solid addition to the brand. The cigar impressed in all aspects, and I would recommend it to experienced smokers in search of a flavorful, spicy smoke. Even better than the cigar’s performance is its price. At $4.75 each, it’s a great value. Pick up a box of 20 to keep handy, or at least go for a pack of five. This is a solid Nicaraguan puro worth trying.
The Alec Bradley American Sun Grown Robusto earns a rating of 3.75 out of four stars.
Trinidad Robusto

The Trinidad brand of cigars comes via Altadis USA and was named after La Santisima Trinidad, a city located on the southern coast of Cuba. These cigars are often said to be rich and bold. Does the original Trinidad line deliver such a smoking experience? I will be sampling one of its Robusto cigars in this review to find out.
The Trinidad Robusto measures 5 x 50. There are several other sizes in the line, including the 5 x 44 Corona, 5 x 52 Mini Belicoso, 5 x 52 Churchill, 6 x 50 Toro, 6 1/8 x 52 Belicoso, 6 5/8 x 44 Lonsdale, and the 7 1/2 x 40 Fundador. The cigar’s filler is an interesting blend of tobaccos from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and Peru. The binder is Connecticut Broadleaf, and the wrapper is of the Ecuadorian Sun Grown Sumatra variety. The strength of the Trinidad Robusto is listed as medium to full-bodied.
