I can definitely say that the Trinidad Robusto is not one of the flashiest cigars I have ever seen.  Not that it really matters, but the cigar’s presentation is somewhat bland.  The decorative band near the head is basic and features the Trinidad name over a black and gold color scheme.  The cigar has a few moderate veins that are noticeable on its semi-oily wrapper.  The Robusto feels firm to the touch and has zero soft spots.  Construction seems solid overall.  Prior to lighting, I detect a leather flavor and a spicy aroma.

After lighting, I experience zero negative issues with the Trinidad Robusto’s burn. The draw is just right. The cigar offers a nice volume of smoke and solid ash that is light gray in color. The burn remains even on its own from start to finish, allowing me to concentrate on the cigar itself rather than pesky maintenance.

Up next is the Trinidad Robusto’s flavor, and it satisfies in this department. It begins with a first third of wood and pepper. I also detect some sweetness here. The second third offers more bold pepper and cedar. The final third is a mix of cedar, leather, and wood. There’s a good amount of strength packed into the Trinidad Robusto, but it appears without being overbearing.

The Trinidad Robusto did not blow me away by any means, but I cannot deny that it is a solid cigar. Would I purchase it again in the future, I don’t know. I have no real complaints, but it did not really stick out in my mind as a memorable cigar. The Trinidad’s price seems reasonable at around $3 to $4 per single, so you don’t have a lot to lose by trying one out. Look for it in boxes of 20.

The Trinidad Robusto earns a rating of 3.25 out of four stars.
