If you enjoy artsy bands on cigars, you’ll love the presentation of the Mi Amor Reserva.  It has two bands that really look great against the dark brown wrapper.  The top band is large and displays the La Aroma de Cuba name and logo, which features an antique depiction of a woman in the center.  The band right beneath it is smaller and is stamped with the Mi Amor Reserva label in elegant gold font.  The dark wrapper has just a bit of oil and appears to be smooth overall.  There some moderate veins that are visible.  The Reserva has a slight box-press that looks good and it also feels firm to the touch.  There’s a pre-light aroma that’s chocolaty, while the cold taste is a combination of earth and spice.

There are no unfavorable issues to report concerning the Mi Amor Reserva's burn. The Reserva has a very good draw and yields very long ash that is white in color. The cigar burns steadily and offers up a lot of smoke. A few touch-ups are necessary, but nothing major.

I expected plenty of flavor from the Mi Amor Reserva, and I certainly got what I asked for.  This is not surprising, as Don Pepin has never let me down in the past.  Cedar and pepper are noticed in the first third, and the pepper strengthens in the second third.  Chocolate, leather, and sweetness are also detected at this point.  The final third is sweet and chocolaty, and also features notes of coffee and nuts.

After smoking the Mi Amor Reserva Maximo, I can see why La Aroma de Cuba cigars have a strong following.  The cigar had wonderful presentation and was well-constructed.  Its flavors were superb too.  This is more of a cigar for experienced smokers who enjoy full-bodied cigars.  At $8 to $9 per single, the Mi Amor Reserva may not be an everyday smoke, but I would definitely pick up a box of 24 to keep around the house.  You can also find it in packs of five.

The La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor Reserva Maximo earns a rating of four out of four stars.
