Right off the bat, the first thing I notice about the Gurkha Legend Toro is its attractive band. It sports the Gurkha name and logo, and its mostly gold and brown color scheme looks great against the cigar’s chocolate brown wrapper. The wrapper has plenty of oil and is free of any major imperfections. There are a few minor veins that are visible, but nothing more. The cigar feels firm to the touch for the most part, with a tiny bit of give. As I give the Legend a whiff, I notice a spicy scent. The cold taste, on the other hand, is of earth.

After striking the Gurkha Legend Toro with my lighter, it’s nothing but smooth sailing. The burn is perfect and requires zero touch-ups from start to finish. The cigar also stays lit on its own. The draw is excellent. The solid gray ash keeps my clothes clean, which is always plus. We are good to go in this department, to say the least.

As far as flavor is concerned, the Gurkha Legend Toro has an interesting array of flavors under its belt. Spicy pepper, sweetness, toast, and earth make up the first third. The pepper offers a nice wakeup call, and gets a tad stronger in the second third. More sweetness appears at the halfway point, as do delicious notes of cherry. The final third is mostly nuts and wood. Medium to full-bodied seems to fit the cigar perfectly as a description of its strength.

I expected good things out of the Gurkha Legend Toro. Luckily, the cigar did not disappoint. It’s a quality cigar, with just the right mix of great looks, burn, and flavor. At around $10 each, it seems to be priced a bit high as a true everyday smoke. If you have ever smoked a Gurkha, however, you know that they tend to be on the pricey side, so this is no true surprise. I recommend it as a treat for a special occasion for experienced smokers looking for something with plenty of flavor and a spicy kick.

The Gurkha Legend Toro earns a rating of 3.75 out of four stars.
