alecmaxxfix1 Today's pair of reviews deal with a couple of full-bodied cigars from Alec Bradley and 5 Vegas. Let's see if the Alec Bradley Maxx The Fix and the 5 Vegas Limitada 2010 pass the test.

Alec Bradley Maxx The Fix

Alec Bradley's Maxx line was made with fans of bold smokes in mind. The line seems to have plenty of character, especially when you take a look at the naming of its various sizes. I'm intrigued by the marketing and description of the Maxx, so let's see if I will be satisfied by The Fix.

The Fix selection from Alec Bradley's Maxx line is a bulky cigar that measures 5 x 58. Other sizes in the line include the 4 x 48 Nano, 6 3/8 x 60 Freak, 6 1/2 x 54 Culture, 6 1/2 x 62 Vice, 7 x 58 Curve, and the epic 9 1/4 x 50 Ego. The cigar's filler is an interesting combination of tobaccos from Colombia, Honduras, Mexico, and Nicaragua. The binder is Costa Rican, while the wrapper is Nicaraguan Habano. The strength of the Maxx line is listed as full-bodied.

It may not be the most flashy stick you will see, but The Fix is attractive and appears to have solid construction. The wrapper is quite dark and has a marbled look. There's a good amount of oil, and only a few minor veins are visible. The cigar also feels very firm to the touch. The band is simple and features the Alec Bradley Maxx label in silver and maroon. The pre-light characteristics are very inviting, as there's an aroma of rich chocolate and a cold taste of coffee.

After lighting the Alec Bradley Maxx, the cigar burns without any trouble. This was expected, as Alec Bradley usually puts out well-built stogies. The draw is a tad tight, but not tiresome. The burn is slow and stays even on its own from beginning to end. The gray ash is solid and never seems as if it's ready to fall over my lap, which is always an added plus in my book.
