The CAO Black VR Totem has an interesting look to it, although nothing nearly as nice as the CAO America. It has two decorative bands. The band at the head is rather simple and displays the CAO logo along with some gold, red, and black trim. At the foot of the cigar is a small black band, highlighted with splashes of white. The design looks as if someone took white paint and splattered it randomly on a black background. I’m not a big fan of this band, and it looks out of place on the cigar. Also, take note to not light the Black VR in a dark room, as you may forget that the dark foot band is even on the cigar and could light it as well. The Brazilian Maduro Arapiraca wrapper gives the cigar a dark, oily appearance, with a few veins running throughout. The cigar is firmly packed and prior to lighting you can smell and taste hints of chocolate.

The CAO Black VR totem has a solid burn once lit, and the same goes for its ash and draw. The only complaint could be that you might need to re-light it a few times as it approaches the end. The flavors experienced are excellent and varied. You can expect some creamy, cocoa flavors which eventually shift to more of a coffee taste. Some earthiness exists also, and you will get some strong chocolate flavors towards the end. There are even some hints of sweet berry flavor that make their appearance throughout the smoke. This would be a good smoke to have with your morning coffee, or even as an afternoon treat.
The CAO Black VR Totem is an excellent cigar. Its wide range of flavors are enough to keep you interested throughout the entire smoke. It’s a good choice for those who prefer milder cigars with tons of flavors packed in. You can purchase the Black VR Totem for around $6 per single, or in boxes of 20. For its interesting flavor combination and solid burn, the CAO Black VR Totem earns a four star rating.
