The Don Tomas Cameroon Robusto is a very attractive cigar. The first thing or things I notice are its pair of decorative bands. Their gold, red, and black color schemes look great against the dark brown wrapper. The wrapper has some oil on the surface and a few medium-sized veins. I see no major imperfections and it feels firm to the touch. I pick up a pre-light aroma that is sweet, while the cold taste is spicy.
Once lit, the Don Tomas Cameroon Robusto lights without any negative issues to report. The draw is just right. The ash is light gray and solid. Plenty of smoke is produced and smoking time is around 90 minutes. Only one touch-up is required. No re-lighting is necessary.
Moving on to the flavor department, the Don Tomas Cameroon Robusto offers a decent amount of complexity. It begins with a slight kick of spice that blends with sweetness and nuts in the first third. The spice picks up in strength somewhat in the second third. I also detect creaminess and more sweetness here. The final third finishes things off with a nice combo of coffee and nuts.
For an inexpensive cigar, I have to say that the Don Tomas Cameroon really delivers. I enjoyed the flavors and the burn was mostly maintenance-free. I could see this as being an everyday smoke due to its flavor profile and price. You can find the Don Tomas Cameroon for around $2 to $3 each. I suggest picking up a box of 25 to keep handy when you want to smoke something flavorful during any time of the day.
The Don Tomas Cameroon Robusto earns a rating of 3.5 out of four stars.
