Moving on to the flavor, the Fuente Gran Reserva Maduro begins with a mix of cedar and spice. The burst of spice does a good job of waking up the senses. After the first third, the spiciness dies down, and in comes some sweet and coffee flavors. The transition is very pronounced. The final third offers cedar, coffee, and leather. There is just enough kick from the Gran Reserva Maduro, but it never gets to be too overpowering.

Once the smoking experience was over, I can definitely say that the Fuente Gran Reserva Maduro Churchill was solid in all departments. It looked good, burned well, and offered a varied assortment of flavors. This medium to full-bodied stick should appeal to Fuente followers and fans of Maduro wrappers. At around $6 per single, it is priced fairly for what you get in return. You can also find the Gran Reserva Maduro Churchill in boxes of 25.

The Arturo Fuente Gran Reserva Maduro Churchill receives a rating of 3.5 out of four stars.

AVO Limited Edition 2011

avo-limited-edition-2011

The AVO Limited Edition 2011 was released to honor the 85th birthday of the brand’s owner, Avo Uvezian. In fact, the cigar was released on Uvezian’s birthday last year of March 22ndThis special cigar is not the first of its kind from AVO, as the brand has made a habit of delivering cigar’s honoring Uvezian’s birthday in the past. Due to the special nature of the cigar, it is quite limited, as you can tell by its descriptive moniker. Just how limited is this stogie, only 10,000 boxes of 10 were produced for worldwide distribution.

The AVO Limited Edition 2011 comes in just one format, a Diademas that measures 6 5/8 x 50. As you can see from the pictures in this review, the format is quite different from your usual stogie. The Limited Edition 2011 sports a filler made up of Dominican San Vicente and Piloto Cubano tobaccos. The binder is Peruvian, while the wrapper is Dominican. In terms of strength, the Limited Edition 2011 is a smoother smoke that is listed as being medium-bodied.
