e.p. carrilloe.p. carrillo new wave connecticut short run 2012 invictos

epcarnew2

The most noticeable physical aspect of the New Wave Connecticut Short Run 2012 Invictos is its beautiful golden brown wrapper that carries a slight reddish tint. It has just a bit of oil and hardly any veins are present. Two bands near the head really spruce up the appearance as well. The top band showcases the E.P. Carrillo logo in red, gold, yellow, and white. The bottom logo displays the Short Run name in gold and white. Both look superb when matched with the wrapper. The Invictos is silky smooth and feels firm to the touch. There are zero soft spots here. The triple cap is done to perfection. The cedar scent and sweet cold taste are my final observations prior to lighting up.

After lighting the Short Run 2012 Invictos with ease I experience a good draw. The ash is solid and gray in color. The burn is slow and produces a lot of aromatic smoke. The cigar’s burn stays razor sharp from beginning to end. No re-lights are needed.

The flavor of the E.P. Carrillo New Wave Connecticut Short Run 2012 is complex and highly enjoyable. It starts off with cedar, sweetness, and nuts in the first third. The second third transitions to nuts and some bold spice. This short burst of power is then overtaken by plenty of creamy notes. The cigar wraps things up in the final third with more spicy notes and sweetness. The spice is never harsh, but it does give the cigar a tiny kick.

Ernesto Perez-Carrillo did it again with the New Wave Connecticut Short Run 2012 Invictos. I can’t complain about the burn, presentation, or flavor, but a shorter name sure would be nice! I would recommend it to those who follow the E.P. Carrillo brand or who want something flavorful with medium-bodied strength. At around $7 per single, I feel as if this cigar is priced fairly. You can find it in packs of five or boxes of 24, but hurry if you plan on purchasing one, as it is a short run release that could run out before you get your chance to enjoy it.

The E.P. Carrillo New Wave Connecticut Short Run 2012 Invictos earns a rating of 3.75 out of four stars.
