As promised, the Cabaiguan Guapos RX does offer some nice flavor. The first third is characterized by spicy pepper and sweetness. The pepper is not overbearing at all, but it does let you know it’s there. The second third seems to get a bit smoother and sticks with the pepper and sweetness, but also introduces some coffee. The final third transitions into nuts and wood. The cigar does have some kick to it, and I’d put it somewhere in between the medium and full-bodied categories of strength.
I can definitely say without fear of equivocation that Pete Johnson made a quality cigar with the Cabaiguan Guapos RX. I wouldn't say it was the most memorable smoke I have tried, but it was enjoyable in all aspects. The initial impression was favorable, and the burn was good from start to finish. The flavors that did appear were solid as well, and I particularly enjoyed the mix of spicy and sweet. It's a worthy choice for fans of Pete Johnson’s creations or someone looking for a smoke in the medium to full-bodied range. I think the Guapos RX is the perfect companion to a morning cup of coffee. A single sells for around $9 each. Not cheap, but you are getting a good cigar in return. You can also find the Guapos RX in boxes of 20.
The Cabaiguan Guapos RX earns a rating of 3.5 out of four stars.
Montecristo Platinum Churchill

There few names more recognizable than the Montecristo one. Made by tobacco giant Altadis U.S.A., Montecristo is a brand known for providing a mild, quality smoke. This Platinum Churchill I’m about to sample has garnered plenty of top ratings, so I am expecting big things out of it. Will it live up to my expectations? I can only hope….
The Montecristo Platinum Churchill measures 7 x 50. Other sizes in the Platinum line include the 5 x 50 Rothschild, 5 x 50 Robusto, 5 ½ x 44 #3, and 6 1/8 x 52 Habana #2. The Platinum Churchill comes with an interesting blend that begins with a filler of Dominican, Nicaraguan, and Peruvian tobaccos. Its wrapper is Dominican, and a Mexican San Andres Cubano wrapper completes the composition. Strength-wise, the Platinum line is said be medium to full-bodied.
