Right off the bat, the first thing I notice about the Sencillo Black Double Robusto is its attractive band. It sports the Sencillo name and logo, and its white, silver, red, and black color scheme looks great against the cigar’s reddish-brown wrapper. The wrapper has a light tinge of oil and is free of any major imperfections. There are a few minor veins that are visible, but nothing more. The cigar feels firm to the touch, but not hard like a rock. The triple cap appears to be perfect. As I give the Black a whiff, I notice an earthy scent. The cold taste, on the other hand, is of leather.
After striking the Sencillo Black Double Robusto with my lighter, it’s nothing but smooth sailing. The burn is perfect and requires zero touch-ups. The cigar also stays lit on its own. The draw is excellent. The solid gray ash keeps my clothes clean, which is always plus. We are good to go in this department.
As far as flavor is concerned, the Black Double Robusto has a decent amount of complexity. Some pepper, leather, and earth make up the first third. The pepper offers a nice wakeup call, but it gets much smoother in the second third. More leather appears at the halfway point, as does wood. The final third is leathery and creamy. Medium to full-bodied seems to fit the cigar to a T.
Since Sencillo is a relatively small brand, it’s hard to know what to expect. Luckily, the Black Double Robusto did not disappoint. It’s a quality cigar, with just the right mix of smoothness and complexity. At around $8 each, it seems to be priced a bit high as a true everyday smoke. Still, you are getting quality here, so at least pick up a pack of five to see how you like it. You can also purchase the Black Double Robusto in boxes of 25.
The Sencillo Black Double Robusto earns a rating of 3.5 out of four stars.
