The La Gloria Cubana Artesanos de Obelisco is quite a treat for the eyes to see. The shape is very unique and appears to be executed to perfection. The wrapper is dark brown in color. There’s a nice sheen of oil, as well as some minor veins. The cigar lacks any soft spots and is firm to the touch. The band near the head showcases the La Gloria Cubana logo. Another band sits at the foot and displays the Obelisco name in some classy font over a black and gold color scheme. I pick up a cold taste of earth and a spicy aroma just before lighting.
The La Gloria Cubana Artesanos de Obelisco Churchill lights easily. The draw is excellent, and there’s a good amount of smoke that is produced. The burn stays even on its own and requires zero touch-ups. No re-lights are needed. We are good to go here.
Now let’s move on to the interesting part – the Artesanos de Obelisco’s flavor. The cigar kicks off with a nice kick of pepper. This pepper is rounded out by some chocolate in the first third. The second third is where stronger spice appears. It’s not overly powerful, however. I also detect some cedar and earth in the second third. The final third is the best, with notes of chocolate, earth, cedar, and sweetness.
All in all, I was impressed by the La Gloria Cubana Artesanos de Obelisco. I loved the look of the cigar, and that impression continued through the solid burn and great flavor. I’d recommend it to experienced smokers seeking something full-bodied and flavorful. At $9 per single, it’s not cheap, but the Artesanos de Obelisco is a quality smoke. Look for it in packs of five or gorgeous packages of 25.
The La Gloria Cubana Artesanos de Obelisco earns a rating of 3.75 out of four stars.
