Today's edition of reviews covers two very smooth, yet flavorful cigars. We will begin with the CAO L’Anniversaire Cameroon Robusto and finish up with the Illusione Epernay Le Petite.
CAO L’Anniversaire Cameroon Robusto
As you may have guessed by looking at its name, the CAO L’Anniversaire Cameroon is an anniversary cigar. It was released to celebrate CAO's 30th anniversary, and the cigar has received many high ratings since it was introduced. Let's light up a Robusto and see if it lives up to the hype.
The CAO L’Anniversaire Cameroon Robusto measures 5 x 50. It also comes in the following sizes: the 4 x 30 Petite, the 4 x 38 Petite Corona, the 4 ½ x 50 Rothschild, the 4 ½ x 46 Napoleon, the 5 ½ x 42 Corona, the 5 ½ x 55 Toro, the 6 x 54 Belicoso, and the 6 ¾ x 48 Churchill. The cigar's binder and filler are both made up of Nicaraguan tobacco. The highlight of its composition is its Cameroon wrapper. There is another version of the L’Anniversaire which comes in a Maduro wrapper. When it comes to strength, the L’Anniversaire Cameroon is said to be medium-bodied.
The L’Anniversaire Cameroon Robusto is not one of the better looking cigars I've seen. It has a rough overall appearance with some large veins that are noticeable. The medium-brown wrapper is slightly oily and lacks any major flaws. The cigar does have a nice box-pressed shape and is firm to the touch. There are zero soft spots detected. While it may not be pretty, the L’Anniversaire Cameroon does seem to have solid construction. A simple gold and black band sits near the head that gives the cigar a bit of an aesthetic boost. The pre-light aroma and taste are very inviting, as the cigar smells sweet and has a rich chocolate flavor.
After it is lit, the cigar burns quite well. The draw is good, and the ash is solid and light in color. The burn stays even from beginning to end. Touch-ups or re-lights are not needed and the burn is very slow.
