In terms of appearance, the Le Petite is virtually flawless. It's also quite small, and its name fits it perfectly. The oil wrapper has a nice chocolate color and is very smooth. There are only a few small veins that are present. The triple cap is neatly done, and there are no soft spots at all. A subtle white and gold band adds an elegant touch to the cigar's look. Prior to lighting, there is a sweet cold taste and aroma.
The Epernay Le Petite continues to impress once lit. The draw is easy. Attractive white ash is produced, although it is a bit on the flaky side. The burn is very even and requires no touch-ups or re-lights. It's no surprise that the cigar burns rather quickly as well.
For such a small stick, the Le Petite has a good amount of flavor. This is a nice surprise, as I was expecting something more one-dimensional in flavor. It begins with some sweetness, and there's also a taste of honey. Halfway through, coffee kicks in. The cigar is very smooth and creamy. The final third offers up cedar. The Le Petite seems to be more medium than full-bodied.
The Epernay Le Petite is a very good cigar. It has excellent construction, a solid burn, and great flavor. The only problem with the cigar is its price. A single sells for around $6 to $7. You are getting a quality cigar, but that seems to be a bit much for something so small. Another problem is that it is sold as a single, in packs of five, or boxes of 50. It's too bad there's not a smaller box available. Still, if you are looking for a quality cigar for your commute to work or when you don't have a lot of time to smoke, the Epernay Le Petite is a solid choice.
The Illusione Epernay Le Petite earns a rating of 3.5 out of four stars.
