The first thing I notice when looking at the Montecristo White #2 is its large band. The mostly white color scheme really stands out against the cigar and looks good. The Montecristo name and logo are on full display here. The cigar itself has a rather smooth appearance. There are a few minor veins that dot the golden brown wrapper. The cigar feels firm to the touch and has zero soft spots. Overall, the construction appears to be solid. Before lighting, there’s a sweet aroma and an earthy taste.
Once lit, the Montecristo White burns without any issues. The draw is just right. There’s plenty of thick smoke and the cigar burns slowly. The burn stays even from beginning to end without the need for touchups. There are also no re-lights. The ash is solid and white in color. This is everything I would expect from a quality cigar.
As far as the flavor is concerned, there’s plenty of complexity to be enjoyed. The first third starts off with mild spice and transitions into a heavy dose of nuts. The second third serves up sweet and creamy notes, along with coffee. The final third ends the party with more creaminess, nuts, and cedar. Smooth? Definitely. Flavorful? You bet.
Overall, I’d have to call the Montecristo White #2 a superb cigar. It had solid construction and was smooth and complex at the same time. The only problem I have with the Montecristo White is its hefty price tag that hovers around $13 each. At that price point, I would reserve it for special occasions. Definitely pick one up if you can find it on sale. You can also look for the Montecristo White #2 in packs of five or boxes of 27.
The Montecristo White #2 earns a rating of 3.75 out of four stars.
