I paid a visit to Metropolitan Cigars in Tampa
and asked for the best deal on a bundle of medium bodied smokes. These were irresistible
at $1.20 a stick when bought in a bundle. Of course, skeptical at that price, I
bought the $24 bundle of 20 cigars. I figured, what the hell, I can at least
smoke them on the beach and not care if they get wind blown.
What a pleasant surprise I had! The taste was
delicious, like a Starbucks Cappuccino, but a little stronger. Nicely rolled -
good construction with a dark brown, reddish wrapper.
When buying an unknown bundle, you always take
the risk that you may acquire 20-25 cigars that are awful. These were great. I
have had $4-5 cigars that weren't as good. They burn well with a decent ash,
albeit a somewhat unattractive black ash, but so what at $1.20. These are not
just good. They are excellent. I had to smoke six of them before I found one
that didn't burn perfectly. The Cuban Leaf, Rare
Connecticut Habano Torpedos from Metropolitan Cigars are the size and shape of a
Cuban Monte Cristo # 2. It starts good, and gets better as it goes. I smoked it
to the nub.
