Flavors are decent in the Gridiron Greats Churchill, but nothing to write home about.  The cigar is as smooth as promised, however.  Some sweetness is noticed first, and it is followed up by cedar and mild tobacco.   Leather kicks in halfway through, as do some coffee notes.  The final third offers sweetness and more coffee.

There are no real negatives to report when it comes to the cigar, but the Diamond Crown Gridiron Greats seems somewhat average.  It does look good and burn well, but the flavors are too mild or uninspiring.  That being said, it was created for a good cause, so I suppose I shouldn’t really complain too much.  A single is around $15, which is high.  If you are feeling charitable and can find one online, give it a shot if you prefer mild cigars.  You may even enjoy the football-related decorative band and hold onto it as a keepsake if you are an NFL follower.

The Diamond Crown Gridiron Greats earns a rating of three out of four stars.

Paul Garmirian Symphony 20 Short Robusto

alt

The Paul Garmirian Symphony 20 is a limited edition cigar that was released by the brand to celebrate its 20th anniversary.  It follows Paul Garmirian’s 15th Anniversary cigar and was manufactured using the talents of Henky Kelner and Eladio Diaz.  Far from cheap, I have heard many good things about the Symphony 20, which is what enticed me to pick one up.  Will this 2010 release satisfy or disappoint?  It’s time to find out.

The Short Robusto vitola of the Symphony 20 line measures 4 1/2 x 52.  Others include the 3 1/2 x 46 Bombones Extra, 6 x 52 Connoisseur, 6 x 52 Belicoso, and the 6 7/8 x 57 Salomones.  The cigar has four complex fillers and a Havana Seed binder.  The wrapper is unknown, but the company calls it the “greatest wrapper we have ever seen.”  In terms of strength, the Symphony 20 line is said to be full-bodied.
