I enjoy a mild to medium cigar and some of the newer members here say they are new to cigar smoking and would like to start out with something on the mild side. I know I am not in the same league and Patrick and HeavyMetal when it comes to reviewing a cigar but here goes.

Don Diego Corona
· Wrapper – Natural Select Connecticut Shade
· Binder - Dominican
· Filler - Dominican and Brazilian
· Ring Size - 42
· Length - 5 1/2"

Construction: Light brown Connecticut shade wrapper. A light oily sheen that is very silky and even. I have never had one that was not a nice solid roll, No soft spots. A nice clean clip. Very nice looking cigar.

Prelight: Not overpowering. A nice kind of spicy scent.

Burn: Lit evenly. Did not require a re-light. Not unusual to get a 2-3” ash.

Draw: This cigar has a fantastic draw. Nice and easy. A nice flavorful mouthful of smoke with each draw.

Drink: This is a mild cigar so I would not recommend anything that would over power the taste. Coffee and cream. A lager or pale ale go well with it. Most times I have a Diet Coke with Lime.

Smoking notes: This cigar starts out smooth with a light spicy taste. As it progresses the tastes becomes more spicy and bit earthy. At the end it has a touch of nutty taste in addition to the spicy taste that stay with the through out the cigar. Always nice and smooth. Nice gradual flavor shifts.

Overall Impression: This is an excellent mild cigar for either a beginner or someone who enjoys a milder cigar. These cigars have a creamy flavor that doesn’t bite and a subtle finish with no aftertaste. I have read where Don Diego’s are compared with a Macanudo. I disagree completely. The Don Diego, while mild, has quite a bit more flavor and taste than a Macanudo. At half the price of a Macanudo, under $3.00 when purchased by the box, it is a much better bang for your buck.

My go-to cigar is the Don Diego Corona. Nice as daytime as well as a late night smoke.
