As I sat down and revisited this long lost friend, many of his personality traits quickly came back to the forefront. The near perfect burn coupled with a straightforward taste that was woody and earthy throughout the entire cigar quickly reminded me why I used to buy these by the box and store them from time to time. The unbelievable amounts of smoke produced by the El Rey Del Mundo Robusto Larga kept me trying to blow smoke rings for practically 2 hours. Coupled with a couple of great scotches, I have a hard time thinking of a better smoking experience I’ve had in last few years. These cigars can vary slightly from box to box, but there is far less variation than you see with most other major brands. I have had boxes that contained a more fruity, orange peel like flavor. I have also had boxes were the spiciness of the cigar was the predominant palette treat. The important thing to remember is that I’ve never had a box of El Rey Del Mundo Robusto Larga that has ever let me down.

The attractive price of the El Rey Del Mundo Robusto Larga coupled with a fantastic presentation, make this a great cigar for weddings or parties, or for that matter any type of gift. You can be assured the recipient will be impressed by the looks of the cigar, only to be further excited when they get the chance to smoke it. Of course of the same time you haven’t had and your wallet like you would if you went out get a real showstopper like a Padron Anniversary or Opus X box of smokes.

The cigar is also available in a Maduro version, and is a twin brother that should also not be missed. In fact if you were stuck on a desert island and can only pick one family of cigars to bring with you, you wouldn’t go wrong by choosing any of the El Rey Del Mundo.

The in summary the El Rey Del Mundo Robusto Larga with its ever present Ecuadorian wrapper delivers on all fronts you expect a cigar to deliver on, great taste, fantastic construction, relative availability, top notch presentation, and most importantly in unbelievable value especially in today’s economy. There’s really no where to go wrong with El Rey Del Mundo, so pick up a box slap them in the humidor, smoke ‘em now or age them for later. And no matter what you do you will be disappointed, and you likely will be broke either!

I was interested in how your experience with the draw of the cigar was. While I absolutely love the different flavors on the El Rey Del Mundo cigars, over and over I have had trouble with such a tight draw. Did you experience anything similar or should I give them another shot, because I truly love the taste, particularly the maduros.

The El Rey Del Mundo Robusto Larga in Maduro wrapper is absolutely one of the very best cigars I have ever smoked regardless of the price. In fact, very few "premium" cigars can hold a candle to the Robusto Larga in construction, price, taste, etc. A GREAT cigar.
