As far as the flavor is concerned, there’s not much complexity. I didn’t really expect much, to be honest. The first third starts off with earth and transitions into a heavy dose of creaminess. The creaminess continues into the second third and is met with nuts. The final third ends the party with mild spice. Smooth? Definitely. Flavorful? Somewhat.

Overall, I’d have to call the Esteban Carreras Connecticut Robusto a solid, yet unspectacular cigar. It had solid construction and a good burn but lacked anything that really made it stand out. It was smooth, so if you enjoy such cigars you may find it to be to your liking. Beginners can also give it a shot. If you want complexity and full flavor, look elsewhere. It definitely won’t excite you, but it’s not a horrible cigar to have handy when you want to enjoy your cup of coffee in the morning. The Connecticut Robusto sells for around $6 per single and comes in boxes of 20.

The Esteban Carreras Connecticut Robusto earns a rating of 3.25 out of four stars.

Punch Magnum

The Punch name is well-known throughout the cigar industry, as it has received plenty of high ratings from experts through the years. The Punch name is said to be synonymous with quality and affordability. You can’t go wrong with that combination, so I am going to find out if this Punch Magnum delivers.

The Punch Magnum measures 5 ¼ x 54. It’s just one of the plethora of sizes in the line that range from the 4 ½ x 30/60 Champion to the 8 ½ x 52 Presidente. The cigar’s filler is a blend of tobaccos from the Dominican Republic, Honduras, and Nicaragua. A Connecticut Broadleaf binder and an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper complete the composition. Punch also offers the cigar with a Connecticut Maduro or an Oscuro wrapper if you prefer to smoke something that is more full-bodied in strength.
