This cigar was a first for me in two way. It was the
first double maduro and the first square pressed cigar I have had. I bought a 5
pack on a whim when ordering others at Cigar International.
Fidalgo Negro Corona
· Wrapper – Oscuro Maduro
· Filler - Dominican and Nicaraguan
· Ring Size - 44
· Length - 6"
Construction: Square pressed.
Dark very oily double maduro. Veiny. Coffee black color.
Prelight: Very nice aroma.
Earthy and chocolate smell.
Burn: Lit evenly. Burned a
little unevenly. Perhaps it needed some humi time. The ash did not get very
long. Perhaps this is a trait of a square press.
Draw: This cigar has a nice easy
draw. A nice flavorful mouthful of smoke with each draw.
Smoking notes: Rich and tasty.
Smooth. A very nice earthy taste. Long finish. Not the spicy taste I find in a
lot of Dominican cigars.
Overall Impression: This was a
pretty good cigar. It was a very smooth smoke. Very different type of cigar for
me but a nice change from the milder natural wrapper cigars I normally smoke. I
hope that some time in the humidor will help the burn even out. Not an everyday
cigar but not too bad for a change of pace.
The 5 pack cost $16 at CigarsIntl.com
I will smoke this cigar again.
