foundryfoundry wells

In terms of flavor, the Foundry Wells is rather average.  The cigar begins with a pleasant sweet flavor, and then moves on to some notes of earth.  Wood is another noticeable flavor, as well as caramel around the halfway point.  The final third offers sweetness, mild spice, and more wood.  As advertised, this is a medium-bodied stick that won't overpower you.

I must admit that while the Foundry Wells really got me with its presentation and overall appearance, the cigar itself lacked any wow factor.  The construction was good, but the flavors didn’t catch my attention.  At around $8 per single, I have to wonder how much the presentation added to the overall cost.  Still, it’s not a bad cigar to try if you want to look at something different and enjoy medium-bodied smokes.  If you are a steampunk fan, you may want to pick up a box of 24, as they do feature some nice artwork.

The Foundry Wells earns a rating of three out of four stars.

Canimao Originales

alt

Canimao cigars are supposedly handmade at a small factory in Miami.  Company CEO Mel Gonzalez and his blender Vincente Garcia are the main men behind the brand’s creations.  Now, I’ve never smoked a Canimao before, but I have heard some good things about the Originales, and that is why I decided to purchase one for this review.

The Canimao Originales measures 6 1/2 x 54.  The base Canimao line also comes in various other formats, such as the Robusto, Torpedo, Corona, and Churchill, among others.  The cigar has a filler blend of Dominican and Nicaraguan tobaccos.  Its binder and wrapper, on the other hand, come from Ecuador.  The Canimao Originales is considered to be a smooth cigar that falls into the category of medium-bodied in strength.
