The Red Label Toro is an attractive cigar with a beautiful wrapper that is smooth and has a bit of a reddish tint. I notice some oil on the wrapper and a few moderate veins here and there. The cigar is firm to the touch and has some nice weight to it. The band near the head has a clean and classy look thanks to its red, black, and white color scheme and lettering. It features the Jameson name in the middle along with the word Imported. Before lighting, the Red Label exhibits a barnyard aroma and a cedar flavor.
The burn of the Jameson Red Label Toro is a tad iffy. The draw is good and there’s plenty of thick smoke, but the burn tends to stray and needs touch-ups throughout the smoking experience. The white ash is on the flaky side. Burn time is a little over an hour.
As for the flavor of the Red Label Toro, I wouldn’t call this a complex cigar. What’s there, however, is not bad at all. The Toro begins with mild spice and cream in the first third that remains true to its reputation of supposedly being one of the mildest cigars from the brand. The spice remains in the second third and blends with cedar and nuts. The final third is creamy and sweet.
Was the Jameson Red Label Toro a cigar that was out of this world? No, but it was smooth as promised, so beginners or smokers looking for something rather mild might enjoy it. I didn’t notice a ton of flavor transitions, but I did enjoy its overall pleasant nature and could see it as a good morning cigar. The Red Label Toro sells for around $5 to $6 per single, which is not bad. You can find it in packs of five or boxes of 20.
The Jameson Red Label Toro earns a rating of 3.25 out of four stars.
