The Bully is not the type of cigar that will call a lot of attention. Of course, some may not even care about that, but it is a tad boring appearance-wise. The cigar has a medium-brown wrapper that is smooth and not too oily. A few veins are present as well. The Bully feels mostly firm to the touch, with just a little give. A red and white band sits near the head that displays the Romeo y Julieta 1875 brand name. Before lighting, the cigar's scent is earthy. The cold taste is earthy as well.
Once in action, the Romeo y Julieta Bully displays a decent burn. The draw is good and there is plenty of smoke, but there are some touch-ups needed. Solid gray ash is produced too. The burn's not perfect, but it's not awful either.
The flavor department is where the Bully is a bit disappointing. It seems a tad one-dimensional, and complexity is missing. Cedar notes are noticed first. Pepper comes next, although it is not overpowering at all. There are also some earthy and creamy notes that pop in here and there. The Bully is definitely medium-bodied.
There's nothing too special about the Romeo y Julieta Bully. It's not a bad cigar by any means. It is missing a “wow” factor to make it memorable, however. What is attractive about the Bully is its affordable price. A single sells in the neighborhood of $4, and the cigar also comes in packs of five or boxes of 25. At that price, a real fan of the cigar could enjoy it on a frequent basis. Beginners could find the Bully as a good cigar to get their feet wet. It could also appeal to those seeking a more affordable stick.
The Romeo y Julieta Bully earns a rating of three out of four stars.
