Flavor-wise, the Evil Robusto does not disappoint. I wouldn't call it the most complex smoke, but it does offer a nice variety of flavors to keep things from getting dull. The first third begins with spicy pepper right off the bat that is joined with earth. The pepper is enjoyable, but not harsh or overpowering. So far, so good. The second third offers notes of leather and wood. The final third re-introduces the spicy pepper experienced in the beginning, as well as some nuts. Overall, it was full-bodied, but not a powerhouse that knocked me off my chair. That's not necessarily a bad thing, either.
When all is said and done, I have to say that I enjoyed the Gurkha Evil Robusto. The cigar looked good thanks to its large wrapper, and the positive impression continued with the burn and flavor. It's a stick that is too strong for beginners, but if you like full-bodied cigars with some kick then it should be right up your alley. As for the price, a single sells for around $7 to $8. It could be considered overpriced, but most know that Gurkhas are not cheap to begin with. If price is not an issue, pick one up. It also comes in boxes of 20 or packs of five.
The Gurkha Evil Robusto earns a rating of 3.5 out of four stars.
AVO LE10

The AVO Limited Edition 2010, or LE10, was released in March of last year to select merchants as a way to celebrate Avo Uvezian's 84th birthday. The LE10 was just another in the line of special limited edition releases from the brand that was created for fans of bold cigars. This is by no means a cheap cigar, so I hope it does not disappoint. Let's see how it fares....
AVO released the LE10 in a 5 1/2 x 55 Super Robusto format, which is the only offering in the line. The cigar's filler consists of Dominican Ligero tobacco, while its binder is of the Mexican Sumatra variety. A select Ecuadorian Special Sun Grown wrapper completes the composition. Like other Limited Edition annual releases from AVO, the LE10 is full-bodied in strength.
