Taking a quick look at the Satori Nirvana reveals that it is a very attractive cigar. The Oscuro wrapper is quite dark and oily. Only a few minor veins are visible, and the cigar appears to be smooth overall. It is also firm to the touch. In terms of construction, the Nirvana gets an A plus. The decorative band near the head is colorful and really stands out against the dark wrapper. The Satori name is displayed as well as a spiritual figure that appears to be meditating. The yellow, blue, gold, and red color scheme looks great. Just before lighting, I give the Nirvana a quick whiff and taste. I get a lot of sweetness in return.
Once lit, the Satori Nirvana exhibits an excellent burn. The draw is very good, and some solid gray ash is produced. The burn is even from beginning to end with no need for touch-ups or re-lights.
While I wouldn't necessarily call the Viaje Satori the most complex cigar in the world, it does offer some nice transitions. It kicks off with sweetness that is accompanied by cedar for the first third. This then transitions into a healthy dose of pepper that dominates the second third. The pepper eases a bit in the final third, and is joined by rich cocoa. It's safe to say that this cigar is definitely full-bodied.
Would I call the Viaje Satori enlightening? I don't know. Perhaps I will have to open my mind up a bit more the next time around. I can say this, however, it is a quality stick. Superb construction, a good burn, and nice flavor transitions make the Satori an enjoyable cigar. The Satori line is very limited, and it comes with a price tag of around $10 each and up. It also comes in boxes of 25. I wouldn't call it an everyday cigar, but experienced smokers looking for a quality full-bodied smoke should definitely pick up a Satori.
The Viaje Satori Nirvana earns a rating of 3.5 out of four stars.
