It's definitely safe to say that the Colorado Oscuro No. 4 is a beautiful cigar. There is one large decorative band near the head that shows the La Flor Dominicana name and logo, as well as the Colorado Oscuro moniker. Its use of rich brown and gold colors is eye-catching. The cigar itself is a looker and has a nice dark brown wrapper. There is a good amount of oil and a few veins. The No. 4 appears to be constructed well, as it has zero soft spots and is firm to the touch. Before lighting, the cigar has a chocolate taste and a barnyard aroma.
While the La Flor Dominicana Colorado Oscuro looks great, its burn is even better. There are absolutely zero negative issues with the burn at all. That's right, there's no re-lights or touch-ups to perform. The draw is as good as I could expect. Solid gray ash hangs on and keeps my clothes clean. The cigar burns slowly and produces a ton of smoke.
The Colorado Oscuro No. 4 continues its excellence in the flavor department too. Simply put, there's a wonderful variety flavors packed into its inviting body. Notes of chocolate and raisin are noticed in the beginning. They linger for a while, until a bit of spice shows up to give the cigar a little kick in the second third. The spice continues and is joined by some leather. The final third offers more raisin, as well as a good dose wood.
It's hard to complain about the La Flor Dominicana Colorado Oscuro. It has it all – great looks, a superb burn, and nice complexity. The cigar is a great pick for fans who follow the La Flor Dominicana brand or just want something that is full of flavor. The cigar seems to be perfect for any time of the day. A single sells for $7.50, and it also comes in cabinets of 50. A cabinet will set you back some cash, but if you can afford it, pick one up, as this is a high quality smoke.
The La Flor Dominicana Colorado Oscuro No. 4 receives a rating of 3.75 out of four stars.
