The Siboney Reserve Robusto is a decent looking cigar. It’s not flashy, and you could say that it really does look like a budget cigar, but it’s what’s on the inside that counts, right? A simple brown and white band near the head showcases the Siboney name and logo. The cigar has a chocolate brown wrapper that’s a tad oily and has minimal veins. Touching the cigar reveals a little give, but no major soft spots. There’s a peppery cold taste, while the aroma is grassy.
The Siboney Reserve’s burn is okay. Not perfect, but not bad either. The cigar lights with ease and has a solid draw. The white ash is on the flaky side. A few touch-ups are necessary. Smoking time sits around 60 minutes.
Moving on to the Siboney Reserve’s flavor, it sits on par with the rest of the cigar’s characteristics. In other words, it’s average. Mild pepper and sweetness mark the first third. The pepper strengthens some in the second third and blends with cedar and wood. The final third is sweet and woody. There’s not much complexity to be enjoyed.
When all is said and done, I’d call the Siboney Reserve Robusto an average cigar. Then again, for its price I guess I cannot complain too much. It just failed to stand out in any way that would make me really yearn to light it up. It’s also not as spicy as most Pepin selections. You can find a single for under $3, which is pretty good. There are also packs of five and boxes of 20 that lower the average price even more. Would I buy a box? No, but you can give a single a try and see for yourself.
The Siboney Reserve Robusto earns a rating of three out of four stars.
