It's hard to not be impressed by the presentation of the Cain F 464T, as I am intrigued by its small, yet bold stature. The cigar is very thick and has an interesting shape. The wrapper is dark with a tan hue and is also oily. There are a few medium-sized veins that are visible. The cigar feels firm to the touch and is lacking any soft spots. The decorative band sits at the foot and displays the Cain label over a gold and burnt orange color scheme. As for the pre-light aroma I am getting hints of cedar. The cold taste is very spicy and has me anticipating a strong smoke.
Once lit, the Cain F 464T is a solid performer. The draw is just right, and there's plenty of thick smoke that is emitted during the slow burn. The ash is long and gray. The burn stays even from beginning to end, and there are no touch-ups or re-lights that are necessary.
In terms of flavor, I would not call the Cain F 464T overly complex. It is definitely as strong as advertised, however. The cigar is full-bodied through and through. There’s just the right amount of kick included to let you know it’s there right from the start, as it begins with a first third that is dominated by pepper. The pepper continues into the second third and blends with a small burst of leather and cedar. The final third combines more cedar and leather and also introduces wood.
When all is said and done, I have to say that I enjoyed the Cain F 464T. The cigar looked unique thanks to its format and size, and the positive impression continued with the issue-free burn and flavor. While it was not complex, it did keep me entertained. As for the price, a single sells for around $7 to $8. It could be considered overpriced, but you are getting a quality cigar in exchange. I would suggest the Cain F to experienced smokers in search of a cigar with some true kick. Beginners should look elsewhere. Remember to try the Cain F on a full stomach, as it is quite strong. You can also look for it in boxes of 24 or packs of five.
The Cain F 464T earns a rating of 3.5 out of four stars.
