laflorchisel1 We are mixing power with smoothness for today’s reviews, as it is time to take a closer look at the La Flor Dominicana Cameroon Cabinet Chisel and the Jameson Santos de Miami Haven.

La Flor Dominicana Cameroon Cabinet Chisel

La Flor Dominicana re-released its Cameroon Cabinet Chisel in December 2011. It originally shipped as part of the brand’s Chisel sampler, but customer demand made them rethink their distribution efforts. The Chisel name, in case you were wondering, refers to the shape of the cigar. This is not the first release from La Flor Dominicana to use such a shape, as it has also released others in the form of the Ligero Chisel, Double Ligero Natural Chisel, and Coronado by La Flor Chisel.

Measuring 6 x 54, the La Flor Dominicana Cameroon Cabinet Chisel is just one of five sizes in the line. The other four include the 5 x 50 No. 5, 6 x 54 Torpedo, 6 ¼ x 54 No. 4, and the 6 ½ x 44 No. 1. The filler contains a blend of Dominican and Nicaraguan tobaccos. A Nicaraguan binder comes next, and a Ligero Cameroon wrapper completes the composition. Like other offerings from La Flor Dominicana, the Cameroon Cabinet Chisel is listed as being full-bodied in strength.

The presentation of the Cameroon Cabinet Chisel is solid. A large dark band sits near the head that displays the La Flor Dominicana logo and the Cameroon Cabinet name. The gold and brown colors of the band blend in nicely with the cigar’s dark brown wrapper. The wrapper is oily and has a few minor veins that are visible. I see no major imperfections, however. The cigar feels firm to the touch from head to foot. All in all, this appears to be another well built stogie from La Flor Dominicana. Right before lighting, the cold taste is reminiscent of chocolate. As for the scent, it’s spicy all the way.

After lighting the Cameroon Cabinet Chisel, the cigar burns without any major issues. It’s not perfect, as it is uneven for a bit in the beginning, but it manages to correct itself. The draw is just right and plenty of smoke is produced. The ash is solid and light gray in color.
