ligapriv1 We have two excellent cigars on tap for you today, as both are full of flavor. Up first is the Liga Privada Unico Serie L40 Lancero, which will be followed by the Illusione CG4.

Liga Privada Unico Serie L40 Lancero

The Liga Privada Unico Serie from Drew Estate is a series of special cigars that come in different sizes and blends. The Unico Serie term refers to the uniqueness of the offerings. The team at Drew Estate has often developed several blends that made the cut, but the rarity of their tobacco and other limitations prevented them from being produced for the public. Instead, they continued to produce the cigars on a limited basis for their own personal enjoyment. The Liga Privada Unico Serie L40 Lancero comes from that mold, only it has been made available for cigar fans. With such a buildup to a cigar, I am expecting something exceptional here. I hope this L40 Lancero can live up to my high expectations.

The Liga Privada Unico Serie L40 Lancero measures 7 x 40. The L40 is a bit larger than traditional Lanceros that measure 7 x 38 due to the fact that it had to be tweaked in order to accommodate the variety of tobaccos that line its interior. There are five tobaccos used in total, which is odd for such a format. The cigar has a blend of three Nicaraguan Cuban Seed tobaccos as its filler, a Brazilian Mata Fina binder, and a CT River Valley Stalk Cut and Cured Habano Leaf wrapper. In terms of strength, the L40 is listed as medium to full-bodied.

It's hard to not be impressed by the presentation of the Liga Privada Unico Serie L40 Lancero, as I am biased towards the Lancero format. The cigar exudes class from top to bottom. The wrapper is dark and very oily with some tooth. There are a few minor veins that are visible. The cigar feels firm to the touch and is lacking any soft spots. The triple cap is neatly finished as well. The decorative band comes in a subtle blue and white color and displays the L40 label. As for the pre-light aroma I am getting hints of cedar. The cold taste, on the other hand, is earthy.

Once lit, the Unico Serie L40 Lancero is a solid performer. The draw is just right, and there's plenty of smoke that's produced. The ash is long and dark gray in color. The burn stays even on its own from beginning to end, so my lighter can take a well-deserved rest.
