Considering the size of the Café Gigante, I subconsciously expect a lot of flavor. I don’t really get that in return, but the Macanudo Café does offer just enough flavor to keep me interested. The first third is a pleasant mixture of cedar and creaminess. The second third continues with the creaminess, and sweetness and mild spice soon come into the picture. The final third offers sweetness and wood.
Once it was all over, I have to admit that I enjoyed the Macanudo Café Gigante. I really was pleased by the overall smoking experience. The burn was not perfect, but it was manageable, and the flavor was solid. You can find a single Gigante for around $8. It also comes in packs of five or boxes of 25. I would recommend the Café Gigante to beginners or to anyone seeking a mild, yet large cigar to enjoy with their morning cup of coffee.
The Macanudo Café Gigante earns a rating of 3.5 out of four stars.
Hoyo de Monterrey Dark Sumatra Noche

As a changeup to the milder Macanudo Café, it is now time to take a look at the Hoyo de Monterrey Dark Sumatra. This cigar was made to suit fans of full-bodied cigars in the traditional Cuban mold, and is highlighted by its special dark wrapper.
The Hoyo de Monterrey Dark Sumatra Noche measures 6 1/2x 52. The cigar comes in the following sizes as well: the 4 ½ x 50 Espresso, 5 ¾ x 54 Media Noche, and the 6 x 45 Ebano. The Dark Sumatra begins with a filler of Dominican Piloto Cubano, Honduran, and Nicaraguan tobaccos. The binder is Connecticut Broadleaf, and a Dark Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper completes the composition. The Dark Sumatra is listed as being full-bodied.
