partagaspartagas black label bravo

Right off the bat, the Partagas Black Label Bravo gives off a nice first impression. The cigar has a bold aura to it, mostly due to its oily and nearly black wrapper. There’s very minimal veining, and the overall appearance is smooth. The cap is done to perfection as well. The cigar is firm overall and there are no true soft spots. A nice gold, black, and white decorative band near the head displays the Partagas name and logo. Before lighting, I pick up a mild tobacco scent and a cold taste of espresso.

After lighting, the Black Label Bravo burns decently. The ash is dark gray and solid. The draw was tight at first but opened up after a few minutes. A couple of minor touch-ups are needed, as is a re-light. I do have to give Partagas a thumbs up here for the very pleasant aroma that the cigar emits.

As far as the Black Label Bravo’s flavor is concerned, I’d call it solid, but not spectacular. The cigar is far from complex, but it does pack a nice punch if that is what you are seeking. It begins with earth and sweetness that dominate the first third. The second third gets stronger with pepper that is accompanied by notes of mild tobacco, espresso, and more sweetness. The final third is characterized by pepper and espresso as well, along with earthy tones. As advertised, the Partagas Black Label is definitely full-bodied.

I wouldn’t call the Partagas Black Label a memorable smoke by any means. I did enjoy it, however, and I could see it as being a good cigar to enjoy with a cup of espresso or as an after dinner treat. Just make sure you do not smoke it on an empty stomach. I also would not recommend it to beginners, as it is pretty strong. You can find a single for around $6, which seems like a fair price. The Black Label Bravo is also offered in boxes of 20.

The Partagas Black Label Bravo earns a rating of 3.25 out of four stars.
