The flavors of the New York Connoisseur continue its excellence. The cigar is very smooth and has a bevy of complexity to keep things interesting. It begins with a rich leathery flavor, plus some sweet spice and nuts. It then moves to more leather and earth in the second third. Coffee, wood, and leather once again finish things up in the final third. The Connoisseur seems to hang more around the medium-bodied end of the strength spectrum.

Before smoking the Montecristo New York Connoisseur, I had plenty of high expectations. Needless to say, those expectations were met. In fact, I think it’s safe to say that they were surpassed. The cigar's construction, burn, and flavors were outstanding. It may have been tailored for a connoisseur, but the Montecristo New York could be just fine for a beginner looking to make a jump up the ladder as well. Fans of the Montecristo brand need to give this one some serious consideration, as should anyone looking for complexity. A single goes for around $14, and you can find them in boxes of 10. I suggest picking up a box, if you can find one. The supply is limited, the cigar is great, and the box presentation captures New York’s aura perfectly.

The Montecristo New York Connoisseur Edition earns a strong rating of 3.75 out of four stars.

Litto Gomez Small Batch No. 4

La Flor Dominicana introduced the Litto Gomez Small Batch No. 4 in December 2011 by shipping fifty boxes to select merchants. The official release one month later consisted of 250 boxes containing 105 cigars each. That’s quite the limited supply, and it is disappointing considering some of the praise this cigar has received. I was lucky enough to get my hands on one, and not it is time to find out if I will be looking to purchase more in the future.

The Litto Gomez Small Batch No. 4 comes in one size that measures 7 x 52. It’s a puro made completely with tobaccos from the Dominican Republic. The cigar has a Pelo de Oro wrapper, and all of the tobaccos used are said to be the “best of the best” from a 2006 harvest. The Small Batch No. 4 is considered to be full-bodied in strength.
