Moore & Bode can affectionately be called one of the "boutique" cigar brands.
Moore & Bode can affectionately be called one of the "boutique" cigar brands. These folks are not "establishment", its obvious their cigars are not slaves to profit, and once you smoke one, the construction will make you feel like you have been given a gift.
Are we sucking up? Ahhh no. These cigars are unique, as is Moore & Bode, for proof check out the Moore & Bode website. Your probably not used to seeing quotes on "cigar philosophy" or Latin sayings being used as company statements...at their site you will. In fact, Moore & Bode contacted us when they saw we were going to review one of their cigars, they were a bit worried about how the review would be conducted. That's attention to detail, it made us feel nervous, like we were babysitting one of their children!
Does all of this really matter if the cigars don't work? Why do I keep asking questions and then answering them? No and I don't know. What about the cigar?
Coming clean, this cigar was chosen to be reviewed because we had stumbled across it in the past, and the shape was unique enough to make us try it. The Brass soon became a favorite, a favorite in our "unique" category. How many cigars do you find that have a ring gauge of 70 at the taper? We don't know the answer to that, but this is just plain fun to smoke.
We mentioned earlier, exquisite construction. How about other-worldly construction? Check out the picture below, and to help understand what we mean, the ash in the picture hung on for another 1 1/2 inches.
We're not sure we have experienced a cigar with a more solid feel and obviously evident care in rolling. High marks for construction.
It's hard to comment on the lighting qualities. Lighting the Moore & Bode Brass with a lighter is kind of like painting the Astrodome roof with a brush, their sizes just don't match up!
Once lit, you'll enjoy a better than average taste from this tobacco packed pyramid. By better than average, that's what we mean! Most of the reviewers said they would definitely try another Moore & Bode Brass, but mostly because of the unique shape and smoking experience, not the flavor. That's not saying the flavor was bad, it was good, just overshadowed by the extreme nature of this cigars shape.
We actually thought of not reviewing this cigar once we were contacted by Moore & Bode, thinking we may tick them off since their so sensitive about their cigars. Then we remembered, we don't really care who we tick off.
This is fresh, try one.
